Introduction

Based upon the Reconstruction of Taiwanese Art History Project, the Conservation Cases of LIAO, Chi-Chun's Oil-Paintings and Chang Dai-Chien's Ink-Paintings were commissioned by National Museum of History (NMH), including five oil paintings by Liao Chi-Chun and fourteen ink paintings by Chang Dai-Chien. The deterioration condition of each painting was examined and recorded during treatments, RCCCR discussed and established the entire conservation procedure through close communication with NMH.

All the paintings suffered from many damages such as smudge, foxing, crack, mold, etc. Major damages were found to be the result of a combination of mutually influencing factors including the unique characteristics of the painting process and materials, structured layers of the work, and the impact of previous treatments. RCCCR follows the conservation ethics and principles throughout the conservation treatments from 2019 to 2020. The related articles are published on Dec.3, 2020 , on the official website of the National Museum of History.
