Introduction
Since the founding of the Department of Fine Arts at National Taiwan Normal University (1947), many masters have taught in the department: Liao Chi-chun, Chen Hui-kun, Pu Ru, Huang Jun-bi, Chang Yi-hsiung, Chu Teh-chun, Li Shih-chiao, Jin Chin-bo, Sun Jia-chin, Lin Yu-shan, and Sun Duo-tzu, etc. It is the origin of the development of fine arts in Taiwan and the cradle of elite artists. NTNU holds abundant collection of art works: over 3,000 masterpieces by famous artists during their student years, representing the foundation and development of modern art in Taiwan. The Research Center for Conservation of Cultural Relics was initiated in 2009 when the university started implementing the Ministry of Education's Transformation Plan, re-organizing the vast inventory of the art assets in the Department of Fine Arts, building a temporary repository, and establishing a high-standard and professional conservation room for the university. In 2011, the center was officially opened and is responsible for the conservation of an average of 50 items per year from the university's collections, and an average of more than 10 cases per year from museums and galleries that have commissioned important collections.
