Selections from the Museum 50 of Taiwan

Summary

Museum 50 of Taiwan was named by “50” is according to the 50 years of “Japanese Occupation Period of Taiwan” from 1895t o 1945(Meiji 28-Showa 20). Since 27 years ago, Museum 50 of Taiwan has started collecting and accumulated more than 1,500 pieces focused mainly on Japanese sculptures, paintings, and metal craft. These selected Collections present the relationship of modern art between Japan and Taiwan. The era spans from the late Edo period to the early Showa period. Some of the works are from the hands of Japanese imperial craftsmen and other famous masters. As far as the history, the collection includes Japanese traditional and westernized art works, crafts of Meiji era. As tradition and modernity are combined both, this selected collections shows many multifaceted fields and fusion of Japanese art, education system of Fine Arts and also its influences on Taiwan’s conversion in the first half of the 20th century can be seen clearly and distinctly.
